"Come Out For Change: A Gay-la For Charity V. 2.0" will be held on May 12th at 8 pm at the
Center on Halsted in Chicago, IL.
The first gay-la was sold-out, and raised almost $1,000 for The Equality Illinois Education Project, and the second gayla is an effort to do more of the same. Partial proceeds from this show will benefit Allied for Equality, as well as PFLAG.
(from the website) Allied for Equality is a joint grassroots project of Equality Illinois and PFLAG (Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays). The goal of the project is to create an allied network of advocates across the state of Illinois, specifically targeting straight allies.
(from the website). PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their family and friends through: support; to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal civil rights. Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunities for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
The Lineup:
Dan Telfer - "token straight comic", who just opened for Maria Bamford and Paul F. Tompkins!
Cameron Esposito - headlining the night, fresh off of her UK and South Africa performances
....and more.......
